Japan Gold updates on Barrick Gold alliance work in the southern Kyushu region, the country's largest gold-producing area

Geochemical sampling and geophysical gravity surveying is ongoing in the area

Japan Gold Corp (CVE:JG) (OTCQB:JGLDF) has updated investors on work being done by its alliance with Barrick Gold in the Hokusatsu region of the southern Kyushu epithermal gold province.

The junior company said that geochemical sampling and geophysical gravity surveying is ongoing in the area, which is Japan’s largest gold-producing region.

Vancouver-based Japan Gold said the alliance currently has applications and prospecting rights covering 96,733 hectares or nearly 81% of prospective ground. Regional geochemical sampling is complete on more than 97% of the area, covering 13 of the 14 projects in the southern Kyushu project alliance.

Project-scale gravity surveying is now complete over 83% of the southern Kyushu projects, with the remainder expected to be completed by the end of April, it added. Gravity surveying has also been completed at the Togi Project in west Honshu and is planned to be completed on the 11 Hokkaido projects by late 2021.

Follow-up investigations are now underway on anomalies defined from 2020 work programs in southern Kyushu and currently focussed on the Mizobe project, where a series of coincident gravity, gold in bulk leach extractable gold and rock samples anomalies were defined.

Japan Gold told investors that geochemical sampling is complete over the Togi project in west Honshu and 80% complete over 11 Hokkaido projects. In total, 87% of the 188,265 hectares 29 project portfolio has now been covered by regional geochemical sampling, the company added.

Barrick Gold has committed US$4 million in exploration for the second year of the initial evaluation phase regional program. It's alliance with Japan Gold includes 29 projects in total covering 1,882 square kilometres.
