Nexus Minerals first diamond hole at Wallbrook intersects broad and high-grade gold mineralisation

Strong results have been received from the start of the company’s 2021 exploration drilling, following on from the high-grade assays received across multiple prospects at the Wallbrook Project in 2020.

Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) has intersected broad, high-grade mineralisation from the first diamond drill hole at its Wallbrook Project in WA with results of up to 3 metres at 11.54 g/t within 9 metres at 4.49 g/t from 159 metres.

A 1,045-metre, two-hole diamond drilling program has recently been completed at Crusader Prospect to test beneath the broad high-grade mineralised zone intersected in the company’s 2020 reverse circulation (RC) drill program.

Other results from the first diamond drill hole (DDH21-1) include 4 metres at 2.59 g/t within 7 metres at 1.63 g/t from 138 metres and 2.7 metres at 5.70 g/t from 53.4 metres.

This hole was drilled to test for depth extensions to Nexus 2020 RC holes that returned broad high-grade mineralisation including:

  • 6 metres at 6.74 g/t within 12 metres at 3.61 g/t from 138 metres to end-of-hole (EOH);
  • 5 metres at 5.01 g/t within 11 metres at 3.44 g/t from 141 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 7.17 g/t within 15 metres at 2.11 g/t from 135 metres to EOH.

Assay results from the second diamond hole are pending.

“Great start to 2021 drill programs”

Nexus managing director Andy Tudor said: “This is a great result to start our 2021 drill programs at Crusader.

“The diamond drilling has given us a clearer understanding of the mineralisation style, and we now eagerly await the results from DDH21-2 that was drilled beneath DDH21-1 to a depth of 805 metres.

“Previous Crusader prospect RC drilling intersected broad and high-grade gold intercepts showing continuity of mineralisation over greater than 700 metres strike, which remains open in all directions, and importantly at depth.

“The Crusader-Templar mineralised system now extends over some 1,600 metres of strike and is rapidly growing into an exciting new mineralised corridor.”

Crusader prospect mineralisation

Nexus RC drilling in 2020 tested the zone from 100 metres to 150 metres below surface with every RC drill hole intersecting mineralisation and encouragingly the gold mineralisation tenor and width both increasing with depth.

Other strong intersections from that program included 9 metres at 6.68 g/t within 22 metres at 2.97 g/t from 96 metres and 8 metres at 5.27 g/t within 17 metres at 2.57 g/t from 46 metres.

Planned exploration

The 2021 drill programs underway at Crusader will test for depth and strike extensions to the mineralisation.

A 6,000-metre RC drill program has been planned and will commence on rig mobilisation.
