Snowline Gold Corp (CSE:SGD) has told shareholders that its Cynthia gold project in Yukon has both bulk tonnage and high-grade exploration potential.
Located in the Selwyn Basin, Cynthia covers a four-square-kilometre area of gold mineralization along strike from a past-producing mine and within eight kilometres of a heavy equipment winter access road.
Snowline acquired the property as part of a land package from a Yukon company in February this year. It is planning a program of geological mapping, historical core review, drone surveying and geochemical sampling to establish a drilling strategy for the project.
According to Vancouver-based Snowline, historical initial drilling on the property in 2010 returned broad zones of elevated gold associated with extensive quartz veining and stockwork, including 1.2 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 6.5 metres within a broader interval of 0.4 g/t gold over 32 metres.
Around 1,100 metres of historical drilling was completed on the property in seven holes, Snowline told investors.
Snowline COO Scott Berdahl called the scale of anomalous gold values and accompanying alteration at Cynthia “hard to ignore.”
"Given its proximity to our flagship Rogue project and its associated dataset, we have the opportunity to assess historical results at Cynthia in regional context and to advance exploration at relatively low cost,” Berdahl said in a statement.
“The mineralization itself lends further weight to our interpretation of the broader Rogue-Einarson area as a potential new gold district," he added.
