Aurion Resources Ltd (CVE:AU) (OTCQX:AIRRF) has kicked off its new exploration program at its Risti and Launi properties in Finland.
The company said that it had started a diamond drilling program as well as till sampling on the two properties located in the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt.
Drilling is designed to test a number of target areas including the high-grade Aamurusko and Notches prospects at Risti and the Hinge Zone prospect at Launi East.

Aurion expects to drill nearly 10,000 metres in total as part of the program, which will continue for most of the coming year. Phase I consists of 10 holes at the Aamurusko prospect, Aurion told investors, while Phase II will cover Launi East.
The till sampling program is ongoing and targeting previously unexplored areas with highly prospective geology. Sampling will take place in several areas across Risti and Launi East, Aurion said. It plans to collect somewhere between 2,000 and 2,500 samples over the next number of months, the company added.
“With the recently completed financing Aurion is fully funded for the planned exploration activities and we are looking forward for an active and exciting year as we commence drilling and base of till sampling programs,” Aurion’s CEO Matti Talikka said in a statement.
Based in St John’s, Newfoundland, Aurion is also advancing joint ventures with Kinross Gold Corp, B2 Gold Corp, and Strategic Resources Inc in Finland.
