Okapi Resources gets green light for drilling at Enmore Gold Project

The company plans to start drilling at the project in northern NSW next month with a view to test the depth of shallow mineralisation reported from historic drilling at the two priority prospects.

Okapi Resources Ltd (ASX:OKR) has received approval from the NSW Government for drilling at the Enmore Gold Project in the state’s north and plans to start the campaign in May.

The company plans to drill an initial eight holes for 1,000 metres as part of the ‘Milestone 1 Minimum Expenditure’ commitment made when acquiring the project in December last year.

Enmore Gold Project is in northeast of NSW, about 30 kilometres southeast of Armidale and 50 kilometres south of the Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Mine, operated by Red River Resources Ltd (ASX:RVR).

The primary aim of the drilling is to test the depth of shallow mineralisation reported from historic drilling at two priority prospects.

Historical drilling

Although there have been more than 200 historic holes drilled at Enmore, there is limited deeper drilling.

High-grade gold associated with quartz veins and breccias is interpreted to represent dilational shoots and has been returned in several deeper holes, particularly at Bora Mine where the peak result was 4 metres at 20.6 g/t from 92 metres including 1-metre at 58.0 g/t.

The majority of the planned holes are to be drilled at Sunnyside Prospect, with two holes planned for Bora Prospect.

Intersections at Sunnyside

Of around 140 historic holes at Sunnyside only 16 wide-spaced deeper holes have been drilled below the oxide mineralisation.

These holes have not adequately explained the distribution of the shallow oxide gold.

Historic intersections at Sunnyside over a 400-metre strike include:

  • 4 metres at 11.94 g/t gold; and
  • 2 metres at 14.6 g/t from 46 metres.

Bora intersections

At the Bora Prospect, there were 31 historic holes but these are concentrated over a 350 metres strike length, leading Okapi to conclude that drilling has not adequately tested the prospect and mineralisation potential is considered open in all directions.

Previous intersections at Bora include:

  • 13 metres at 7.1 g/t include 4 metres at 20.6 g/t; and
  • 14 metres at 6.0 g/t from 90.7 metres and 4 metres at 4.2 g/t from 102 metres.

Well-funded to explore

The Enmore project has a potentially analogous geological setting to the nearby Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Mine.

Following the completion of a recent two-tranche placement, Okapi is well-funded with more than $3 million.
