“Important additions” to team
AVZ’s managing director Nigel Ferguson said: “Jan and Ben are important additions to AVZ Minerals’ management team as we continue to increase our organisational capacity across the business.
“Jan’s broad financial knowledge will be invaluable as AVZ progresses through its financing arrangements, construction contracts and, ultimately, into production.
“Ben has already proven his worth in finalising three offtake agreements for AVZ and will now add the role of joint company secretary to his duties.”
Jager’s experience
De Jager’s previous positions include CFO for Covalent Lithium, a joint venture company of Kidman Resources, before being bought out by Wesfarmers; general manager, Treasury and Reporting for Roy Hill Australia and general manager, Finance for Xstrata Nickel Australia.
Most recently, he was working as managing director for his own management business X2 consulting and has undertaken a range of specific projects for South 32, Westrac Cat and L3Harris.
Cohen’s previous roles
Cohen joins AVZ with an intimate knowledge of the challenging environment of offtake agreements, bulk shipping and the commercial aspects of commodity trading, having been a key contributor to a successful sales and marketing team with a sales book of up to $1 billion annually.
He will assume the role of commercial manager and joint company secretary with Jager.
Resignation of Leonard Math
Leonard Math resigned from his position with the company in late December and has served out his notice period.
Ferguson said: “On behalf of the company, I want to thank Leonard for his contribution to the development of AVZ Minerals since July 2018 and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
