Tocvan Ventures Corp (CSE:TOC) (FRA:TV3) reported that it has kicked off the second phase of its extensive drill program at its flagship Pilar gold-silver project in Mexico.
The Calgary, Alberta-based exploration development company said the Phase II program will consist of two stages and plans for a minimum of 4,000m of reverse circulation (RC) drilling. The first stage will focus on the continued definition and expansion of the Main Zone, which during Phase I returned 94.6m at 1.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 9.2m at 10.8 g/t gold and 38 g/t silver in drill hole JES-20-32.
Tocvan indicated that Stage Two will begin to test new targets across the property, including the Triple Vein Zone and 4-Trench Extension.

Brodie Sutherland, who is VP Exploration at Tocvan Ventures, said the company was “extremely excited” to be back drilling at Pilar.
“Recent exploration on surface has identified several new target areas, which we will begin to drill test during this program,” added Sutherland. “Follow-up on our successful Phase I program will aim to expand the Main Zone along strike and further at depth. Drill crews and geological staff are mobilizing to site today and expect to be ready to start drilling tomorrow.”
The Pilar Gold-Silver property is interpreted as a structurally controlled low-sulphidation epithermal project hosted in andesite rocks. Three zones of mineralization have been identified in the northwest part of the property from historic surface work and drilling and are referred to as the Main Zone, North Hill and 4-Trench.
Structural features and zones of mineralization within the structures follow an overall northwest-southeast trend of mineralization. “Over 19,200 meters of drilling have been completed to date,” said the company.
Phase II drilling will include follow-up on highlight holes from the company’s Phase I Program, which include:
- JES-20-32: 94.6m at 1.6 g/t gold from 57.9 to 152.5m, including a high-grade core of 9.2m at 10.8 g/t gold and 38 g/t silver from 57.9 to 67.1m;
- JES-20-36: 24.4m at 2.5 g/t gold and 73 g/t silver from 96.1 to 120.5m, including a high-grade core of 9.2m at 6.3 g/t gold and 192 g/t silver from 96.1 to 105.2m;
- 4-Trench Extension: 600m strike length identified by historic workings and surface sampling highlighted by 19.9 g/t gold with 8 g/t silver and 5.1 g/t gold with 142 g/t silver in rock samples;
- Triple Vein Zone: 400m strike length identified by surface mapping and sampling highlighted by 4.5 g/t gold with 735 g/t silver and 4.3 g/t gold with 96 g/t silver in rock samples.
Tocvan Ventures has two exciting opportunities in the shape of its Pilar gold-silver project in Sonora, Mexico and the Rogers Creek copper project in southern British Columbia.
