CytoDyn inks exclusive supply and distribution agreement for leronlimab in Brazil with Biomm SA

The company said the commercial pact will enable Nova Lima-based Biomm to "sell leronlimab in Brazil following regulatory clearance”

CytoDyn Inc (OTCQB:CYDY), a biotechnology company developing its flagship drug Vyrologix (leronlimab-PRO 140) for multiple indications, said it has executed an exclusive supply and distribution agreement with Biomm SA in Brazil.

The Vancouver, Washington-based biotechnology company said the commercial agreement will “enable Biomm to sell leronlimab in Brazil following regulatory clearance.”

CytoDyn said it has committed to conducting clinical trials in Brazil for all current indications for leronlimab including as a treatment for coronavirus (COVID-19) long-haulers symptoms, the liver condition non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cancer.

In a statement, Biomm S.A CEO Heraldo Marchezini said: “We are very pleased with our recently executed exclusive supply and distribution agreement with CytoDyn. Our urgent goal is to provide leronlimab to Brazilians critically ill with COVID-19.”

CytoDyn’s flagship drug leronlimab works by mitigating what is known as the cytokine storm, a hyperactive immune response that can cause inflammation, fatigue and in severe cases, organ failure in serious COVID-19 patients.

CytoDyn CEO Nader Pourhassan said he was “very grateful” to Marchezini and his team for “expediting” CytoDyn’s efforts to advance the availability of leronlimab for “all patients who might benefit from this immune modulator product.”

“We are excited to reach this milestone for the potential benefit of Brazilian patients,” added Pourhassan. “Mr Marchezini and his team have worked tirelessly to advance our commercial agreement and we look forward to a long-term relationship with Biomm.”

Aside from COVID-19, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Fast Track designation to CytoDyn for two potential indications of leronlimab for critical illnesses. The first is a combination therapy with HAART for HIV-infected patients and the second is for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.
