Aurumin Ltd (ASX:AUN) is encouraged by the multiple quartz intersections observed in a completed 59-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the 100%-owned Mt Dimer Project in Western Australia.
Quartz was intersected at approximate targeted positions within the granodiorite host rock, with varying amounts of dolerite and gabbro in line with historical open pits.
Managing director Brad Valiukas said: “Our view is that Mt Dimer has considerable upside and the potential for multiple open pits, in addition to the known high-grade Lightning and Golden Slipper deposits.
“We are extremely pleased with what we see in the drilling.
“There are quartz-bearing structures located where we expected and assay results are pending.”
Testing survey targets
The focus of the 5,009-metre drilling program was to test the primary targets generated by a 2020 SAM (ground-based Sub-Audio Magnetic) survey.
This program tested eight of the 13 primary targets, plus one target bordering the SAM survey (51 holes for 4,154 metres).
Other holes were drilled at Lightning and Golden Slipper (eight holes for 855 metres).
All initial samples have been dispatched to the assay laboratory and assay results are expected to be received progressively from mid-April.
Past-producer
Mt Dimer is a historical high-grade production centre, having produced more than 125,000 ounces of gold, including open pit and underground production of 600,000 tonnes at 6.4 g/t.
The company started the drilling program in early March with the aim of defining the existing high-grade Lighting and Golden Slipper deposits and testing at least six new targets.
Shares were almost 12% higher to 29 cents and have risen from 23 cents at the market close on March 29.
