Blackbird adds BT to clients' roster

The FTSE 100 firm will use the platform to access and edit multiple live broadcast streams of sports and other content for the fast production of assets for downstream distribution to over the top and video on demand channels

Blackbird PLC (LON:BIRD) said BT PLC (LON:BT.) has chosen Blackbird as a platform for fast and sustainable cloud-native video editing and publishing.

The cloud video editing platform developer said the FTSE 100 communications group will deploy Blackbird for high performance, scalable cloud-native editing and publishing of content for its media operations.

Working in conjunction with BT's Head of Content Operations, Pete Harvey, the Content Operations team will use Blackbird to access and edit multiple live broadcast streams of sports and other content for the fast production of assets for downstream distribution to over the top and video on demand (VOD) channels.

Blackbird said its platform is the world's fastest, most powerful professional cloud-native video editing and publishing platform, providing rapid access to video content for the easy creation of clips, highlights and long-form content to multiple devices and platforms.

It added that it allows businesses to improve productivity and assist in meeting sustainability and carbon reduction targets due to the platform's highly efficient cloud-native architecture.

The company's customers include Tata Communications, EVS, IMG, Deltatre, Sky News Arabia, A+E Networks, NHL, Eleven Sports, Riot Games, Arsenal FC, the U.S Department of State and 50 local US news stations with TownNews.

"We are truly delighted to have a company as important and innovative as BT as a new client,” said chief executive Ian McDonough in a release.

“The focus is working with BT on the fast turnaround of VOD content produced from BT's live broadcasts and Blackbird will significantly improve speed and efficiency - providing end customers access to content in a shorter time scale. In addition, with BT's increased focus on remote working and migration to cloud architecture, the flexibility, resilience and carbon efficiency of the Blackbird technology make us an excellent and future-proofed fit."
