Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has confirmed a new lode at Mt McClure Gold Project in Western Australia with a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program for 2,813 metres intersecting shallow high-grade results of up to 12.24 g/t.
The intersections demonstrate strong potential within a 3-kilometre-long target zone at the HMS Sulphur prospect.
Confirmation and extension RC drilling returned highly encouraging results from multiple prospects adjacent to and beneath historic open pit mines 20 kilometres southwest of the Bronzewing processing facility of Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:NST).
“Exciting prospect”
Managing director Lorry Hughes said: “The HMS Sulphur lode is an exciting prospect where limited reconnaissance drilling along 3 kilometres of strike has outlined significant mineralisation which has not been tested at depth.
“The distribution of the gold intersected thus far suggests strong similarities to mineralisation that continues at depth at neighbouring prospects such as Success and Parmelia.
“Beneath the Parmelia pit, the chance of finding substantial depth extensions has been greatly enhanced as the previous interpretation suggested strong mineralisation did not continue very far beyond the base of the historic pit.
“That is clearly not the case from the new results, and I look forward to bringing forward the testing of this target in our priority drilling schedule”.
Results
The HMS Sulphur prospect returned 11 metres at 2.56 g/t gold from 73 metres, including 1-metre at 12.24 g/t from 83 metres and 6 metres at 1.61 g/t from 36 metres, including 1-metre at 5.35 g/t from 39 metres.
At the Parmelia Deeps prospect, the company intersected 2 metres at 4.81 g/t from 178 metres and 2 metres at 5.22 g/t from 206 metres, including 1-metre at 7.13 g/t.
Notable results at Challenger prospect include:
- 5 metres at 3.56 g/t gold from 84 metres, including 1-metre at 10.58 g/t from 85 metres;
- 6 metres at 2.53 g/t from 81 metres, including 1-metre at 8.95 g/t from 82 metres;
- 19 metres at 1.27 g/t from 39 metres, including 1-metre at 5.38 g/t from 54 metres; and
- 6 metres at 2.53 g/t from 81 metres, including 1-metre at 8.95 g/t from 82 metres.
Next steps
Key exploration activities planned during the March and June quarters include:
- Design and prepare follow-up programs for the highest priority high-impact RC drilling at the Mt McClure project;
- Receive and interpret aircore and RC assays from the Gordons (Gordons Dam, Star of Gordon, Holloways) and Barwidgee projects (Rosewall and Sims Find) and continue with ground preparation for high-impact RC and diamond follow-up programs across the target portfolio;
- Continue with RC drilling at Sims Find and commence reconnaissance drilling between Flinders Park and Flushing Meadows, along strike from Oblique and Quarter Moon and commence high-impact RC drilling at all prospects; and
- Complete dewatering test bore at Flushing Meadows.
