Union Jack Oil’s partner launched online public consultation for West Newton project

It comes as the partners are advancing the project towards a formal planning application.

Union Jack Oil PLC (LON:UJO) told investors the operator of the West Newton project, Rathlin Energy, has launched an online consultation event.

It is part of a public planning consultation process for the proposed development of the West Newton A site.

The company owns a 16.665% interest in the project which comprises the successful WN-A1 discovery well, WN-A2 appraisal well and the recently drilled B-1Z discovery.

Earlier this year, the companies announced a proposal to bring the WN-A1 and WN-A2 wells into production along with the drilling of up six additional wells on the site over a 25-year period.

The public consultation is the next step prior to the submission of a formal planning application.

Rathlin said the West Newton Field has the potential to provide local feedstock to a Humber net zero project, replacing the need for imported hydrocarbons at the same time as developing indigenous energy sources, and contributing to the economic welfare of the Humber region.
