S&P/ASX 200 gains 0.66% on the back of a big rise in Crown Resorts

Gold prices fell 0.3% to US$1,739.80 per ounce on Monday as Turkey replacing its central bank governor led to investors flocking towards the safety of the US dollar.

S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX:XJO) has gained 0.66% to 6,752.5 points by 1.53 pm with all sectors in the green except materials.

Crown Resorts (ASX:CWN) shares surged 19.22% after receiving an $8 billion takeover bid from Blackstone.

Fortescue Metals (ASX:FMG) fell 5% and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) was 1.2% lower following a decline in the iron ore price after the city of Tangshan in China announced plans to limit production until the end of 2021 in a bid to reduce pollution.

Tangshan accounts for about 14% of China’s steel production.
