NEXE Innovations Inc (CVE:NEXE) (OTCMKTS:NEXNF) (FRA:NX5) has said it will fully launch its XOMA Superfoods product line on the company’s eCommerce store, following a successful pilot launch in which the 3-count packages of the product sold out in one day.
NEXE said its eCommerce store will offer three 12-count coffee products, the first being available April 6, with functional ingredients packaged in NEXE's fully-compostable, plant-based capsules, which are compatible with Keurig single-serve coffee brewing systems.
“This direct to consumer model and subscription services will be a part of NEXE's commercial strategy moving forward. Consumers had already begun making the shift to online shopping, and the COVID-19 pandemic has catalyzed this trend,” NEXE Advisor Anthony Rosenfeld said in a statement.

Rosenfeld added: “Consumers are also more aware than ever about the value of health- and environmentally-conscious products. Xoma sits at the intersection of these trends.”
NEXE noted the three products being sold include:
- XOMA Coffee Fortified with MCT (available April 6): Xoma's medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) made from virgin coconut oil
- XOMA Mushroom Coffee (Coming Soon): Chaga, cordyceps and lion's mane mushrooms are a rich, low-calorie source of fibre, protein and antioxidants with a host of health benefits
- XOMA Keto Coffee (Coming Soon): XOMA's Keto coffee is a rich and energizing beverage made with quality fats and MCT oil, flavoured with hints of vanilla
The company said scientific trials have shown that the NEXE K cup pod can break down in as little as seven weeks with no negative effects on the quality of the resulting compost. It added the pods break down completely when composted, leaving no microplastics behind in the soil.
The Vancouver-based NEXE Innovations designs and manufactures fully compostable, plant-based materials for everyday consumer products. The company has developed one of the only patented, fully compostable, plant-based, single-serve coffee pods for use in coffee machines.
The NEXE pod is designed to reduce the significant environmental impact caused by single-serve pods. According to the company, more than 50 billion plastic pods are dumped into landfills each year. The Canadian company is targeting the US$30 billion single-serve pod market, which is growing at 8.5% year-over-year, with its NEXE pod, one of the only fully compostable (in as little as 35 days) plant-based solutions.
