Cloud-based editing software developer Blackbird PLC (LON:BIRD) has been enlisted by news and sports group LiveU to “speed up the production process and engage viewers with enriched live and video-on-demand content”.
Specifically, the pre-integrated solution will enable production teams to send reliable, high-quality video from anywhere and remotely edit, enrich and publish it to any destination.
No financial details for the tie-up were given.
Blackbird chief executive Ian McDonough said: "The world is quickly moving to 'remote first' in its approach to sports and news production.
“Our Blackbird and LiveU partnership is therefore both timely and exciting.
“Quality, speed and ultimately exceptional user experience are the core principles of both platforms and therefore ideal for broadcasters and digital publishers alike.
“New and existing customers of both platforms will be able to enjoy the agility and flexibility of the combined solution safe in the knowledge that it is robust, trusted and can also be a part of a sustainability strategy."
Blackbird delivers cloud-based editing technology which, unlike its competitors, is specifically designed to work natively in the cloud.
Features of the company’s technology include a codec (a compression-decompression) algorithm that creates a system able to operate at very low bandwidth without blocking or blurring, making online video editing extremely agile.
The firm’s JavaScript toolset, meanwhile, delivers an editing suite that’s available instantly on a web browser with no need for download, plug-ins, configuration or installation.
