WA Kaolin Limited (ASX:WAK) chief executive officer Andrew Sorensen has highlighted the production plant construction progress at Wickepin Kaolin Project in Western Australia in a corporate video.
The video shows an aerial view of the batch plant, which is making concrete on-site for the project, around a 40 minute drive out of Narrogin, southeast of Perth.
At the site, the production plant is the main component of the project and where the product will be beneficiated.
As the camera pans over the ROM area (the section without concrete) the video then shows the 18-metre high building, which is where the processing plant will reside.
A kiln for drying the ore, separation equipment and product collection with silos will also be in the area.
The video then pans across to the packaging area where equipment, silos and bulk bags will be kept.
WAK’s warehouse area features two four-bays and two crane rails to move material around the building, which is 150 metres long and is the last phase of construction that the company is embarking upon.
The camera then flies over the project’s construction hub where site portables are located as well as storage facitlities.
A large 150,000-litre water tank can be seen and this will provide water for the main processing plant but has been used to provide water for the batching plant.
Progress update
The stage-I construction program will continue over the next nine months, with commissioning of the plant scheduled for the third quarter of 2021.
This will allow WAK to achieve its production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum by the end of 2021.
Additional modular increases to production are planned in line with market demand and funding capability.
