Deliveroo invites customers, restaurants and riders to invest in upcoming £1bn IPO

Only those who have placed at least one order through the platform will be able to register their interest

Deliveroo has invited its UK-based customers, restaurants and riders to invest in its upcoming £1bn IPO.

Only those who have placed at least one order on the app will be able to register their interest.

The food delivery service said in an email to customers it is going to make up to £50mln of shares available as part of a ‘community offer’.

Customers will be able to apply for Deliveroo shares equivalent of £250, £500, £750 or £1,000 through PrimaryBid, once the prospectus will be published.

The London-based unicorn expects the offer to be popular and will prioritise the “most loyal” customers first in case it is oversubscribed.

At this stage of the process, customers can apply for shares without committing to purchase them once the IPO is launched.

The company, which is backed by e-commerce giant Amazon Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN), reported an underlying loss for 2020 of £223.7mln, narrower than the £317.3mln loss in the prior year.

The total amount of transactions processed on its platform soared 64.3% to £4.1bn as takeaways became a popular buy during lockdowns.
