Red River Resources ramps-up Thalanga exploration with drilling program underway targeting gold

The company’s drilling program aims to build upon its gold inventory within trucking distance of Thalanga’s Operations.

Red River Resources Ltd (ASX:RVR) has ramped-up exploration activity with a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program targeting gold in areas proximal to its Thalanga Operations in northern Queensland.

The drilling program which follows the north Queensland wet season aims to identify high-grade bulk tonnage shoots of gold-bearing quartz veins that can be trucked to and processed at Thalanga.

RVR has designed 33 RC holes to be drilled at the New Homestead, the Don and Toomba prospects to quickly assess the most prospective portions of lodes.

To date, 10 RC drill holes for 958 metres at the New Homestead prospect and 10 RC holes for 910 metres at the Don prospect have been completed.

Initial assay results are expected in three to four weeks.

Building gold exposure

Red River produces zinc, copper and lead with gold and silver credits at its Thalanga Operations, where it is currently mining the Far West deposit.

In addition, the company is seeking to build its exposure to gold, applying for the Toomba and Don projects near Thalanga last year.

Next steps

Red River expects to receive assay results from its initial drilling at New Homestead and Don in three to six weeks.

The assay results will be reviewed and, if required, Red River will plan follow-up drilling and the company expects to complete the remaining part of the initial RC drill program (13 holes) at Toomba, around 30 kilometres northwest of Thalanga in May.
