Red River Resources Ltd (ASX:RVR) (FRA:R1R) has started a microgravity survey, targeting polymetallic and copper-rich massive sulphide mineralisation at its Thalanga Base Metals Operation in Queensland.
The survey will target both the Thalanga Range and Coronation prospects and on completion, RVR will review the data generated in conjunction with previous exploration data (IP and surface geochemistry) to determine priority targets for follow-up drilling later in 2021.
This work is part of the base metals and gold producing company's ramp-up of exploration around the Thalanga project targeting copper-rich base metal mineralisation at two locations
The aim is to increase production and/or extend mine life at Thalanga, which produces zinc, copper and lead concentrates, with gold and silver credits.
Thalanga Range survey
To date, the Thalanga massive sulphide deposit (Thalanga, West 45 and Far West) totals around 5.9 million tonnes at 1.6% copper, 2.5% lead, 7.5% zinc, 66 g/t silver and 0.5 g/t gold.
The survey is targeting an area west of the Far West deposit and will then move northwest along the Thalanga Range up to the Flinders Highway and then westward along the range for 4 kilometres.
This target area contains the contact zone between the Mount Windsor Volcanics and the Trooper Creek Formation which hosts the Thalanga massive sulphide deposit.
The survey will be on 130-metre spaced lines with 50-metre and 30-metre spaced stations for a total of 78-line kilometres with around 1,900 stations.
Coronation survey
With the microgravity survey at Coronation prospect Red River aims to locate potential massive sulphide bodies at depth beneath the geochemical anomalies.
The microgravity survey will comprise 100-metre and 50-metre spaced lines with 50-metre spaced stations.
Lines are oriented perpendicular to the trend of the geology and geochemical anomalies and offset to the general strike of the barite veins - hence closer spacing over the veins (9.5-line kilometres with 206 stations).
To date, the Highway-Reward deposit totals around 3.5 million tonnes at 5.7% copper and 1.1 g/t gold.
