North Arrow Minerals unveils new target on its Loki project in Lac de Gras, highlighting further potential in Canada's Northwest Territories

Five kimberlites have been discovered to date within the Loki project area, all of which were confirmed as diamond bearing

North Arrow Minerals Inc (CVE:NAR) (OTCMKTS:NHAWF) revealed a new “compelling” drill target from its Loki project in the Lac de Gras region of the Northwest Territories, home to some of the world’s leading diamond deposits.

The Vancouver-based company said the target lies at the head of a regional kimberlite indicator mineral train on the property, which is located 40 kilometres from the Diavik diamond operation and 35 kilometres southwest of the Ekati diamond mine in the region.

Five kimberlites have been discovered to date within the Loki project area, all of which were confirmed as diamond bearing.

In a release Tuesday, North Arrow said it had identified the target thanks to initial results from a recently-completed ground geophysics program that included gravity surveys of the north Loki area as well as kimberlite EG05.

Initial results from the survey outline an elongate gravity low anomaly that spans over 400 metres in length and 100 metres width. The anomaly’s amplitude is similar in strength to gravity anomalies associated with some of the known kimberlites in the region, including EG05, the company said.

The target is found at the up-ice termination of a “prominent and unsourced” regional kimberlite indicator mineral anomaly that forms part of what has historically been known as the South Coppermine Train, North Arrow told investors.

CEO Ken Armstrong told shareholders that the size of the anomaly and its location near the regional kimberlite indicator mineral train make it a “compelling” drill target.

“Past drilling has tested other targets in the area, but not the anomaly itself,” Armstrong said. “North Arrow is actively looking at potential timing and logistics of drilling the target this spring to test for a kimberlite bedrock source.”

Diamond portfolio

North Arrow has a portfolio of diamond exploration opportunities in Canada, including the Q1-4 diamond deposit at the Naujaat project, where funding is in place for a $5.6-million, 2,000 tonne bulk sample in 2021.

In addition to Naujaat and Loki, the company is also evaluating kimberlite fields at the Mel and Pikoo projects and exploring for additional kimberlites in the LDG joint venture. North Arrow also has a 100% interest in the Hope Bay Oro gold project in Nunavut.
