Legend Mining kicks off 2021 season with diamond drilling, second rig expected next week at Mawson Prospect

Regional electromagnetic (EM) surveying and aircore drilling are due to commence later in April this year.

Legend Mining Limited (ASX:LEG) has kicked off the 2021 field season with diamond drilling, and the second rig is scheduled to arrive next week at Mawson prospect within the Rockford Project, Fraser Range, Western Australia.

As part of the nickel sulphide explorer's near-term plans, regional electromagnetic (EM) surveying and aircore drilling are due to begin later in April this year.

Multiple rigs can now be deployed

Drill site preparation has been completed for the planned diamond program of more than 10,000 metres and the first of two diamond rigs has arrived on-site at Mawson, with drilling underway.

The second diamond rig is scheduled to arrive on-site next week.

Multiple diamond rigs can now be deployed at Mawson due to a recently signed water agreement with the station owner.

Logistical milestone

Under the agreement, water is supplied to the Mawson tank farm, which is then irrigated across the drilling grid via pipelines.

This is a major logistical milestone for Legend as it mitigates the cost and downtime associated with water cartage from Kalgoorlie.

In addition, a semi-permanent camp has been established at Mawson during February 2021 to facilitate the increase in drilling and associated activities.

Regional Rockford targets

Regionally, innovative moving-loop electromagnetic (MLTEM) and follow-up fixed loop transient electromagnetic (FLTEM) is scheduled to start across the highly ranked regional Rockford targets in April 2021.

An aircore drilling program is also scheduled to commence at the Crean Nickel-Copper Prospect once statutory approvals are granted.
