QC Copper and Gold updates on Opemiska drill progress and names new independent director

As of March 8, 23 holes have been completed with a total of 5,125m drilled and 1,907 samples sent to the lab for assaying

QC Copper and Gold Inc (CVE:QCCU) (OTCMKTS:QCCUF) said Monday that drilling at its Opemiska project in Quebec was exceeding performance milestones and that it had hired a new independent director.

As of March 8, 23 holes have been completed with a total of 5,125 metres (m) drilled and 1,907 samples sent to the lab for assaying, the company said.

"We are very pleased with this work performance and progress," said Charles Beaudry, director and vice-president of exploration at QC Copper and Gold.

"The results so far attest to the robustness of the digital model of the historic copper deposit mineralization and infrastructure, which goes towards increasing the reliability of the dataset and delivering a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) and followed, if favourable, by a preliminary economic analysis (PEA)."

Meanwhile, Philippe Cloutier, who has over 35 years' experience in the mining business and is founder, president and CEO of Cartier Resources (Cartier), was named as a new independent director at QC Copper.

Stephen Stewart, CEO of QC Copper and Gold, commented: "We are pleased to welcome Mr Cloutier as the newest member of the board. Philippe brings a wealth of experience in exploring projects in Quebec, along with professional and business relationships within and outside of Quebec. He joins our efforts in advancing the Opemiska Copper Complex to the next level."

Cloutier has previously worked for Noranda Inc, Aur Resources Inc, and Soquem. He played a lead role in discovering and delineating the Bell-Allard South copper-zinc mine in Matagami, Quebec, the company noted.
