Kenorland Minerals Ltd (CVE:KLD) announced Thursday that it has kicked off a new drilling program at its Frotet project in Quebec.
The 9,000-metre program is designed to follow up on a previous discovery made at the Regnault area of the property, where Kenorland intersected 8.5 grams per ton (g/t) gold at 29.1 metres, including 18.4 g/t over 11.1 metres in 2020.
Around 6,000 metres will be dedicated to Regnault, stepping out from previous intercepts and testing new targets within a two-kilometre strike length, the group said.

The remaining 3,000 metres will test additional targets in the Regnault South area, a three-kilometre trend of continuous gold-in-till anomalism along strike of the initial discovery area.
In addition, a 129 line-kilometre 3D induced polarization (IP) survey is underway on the discovery area, with data processed and utilized for drill targeting, the company added.

Kenorland CEO Zach Flood expressed excitement at getting drills turning on the “incredible discovery” at Regnault.
"In mineral exploration, the odds of finding a completely new, and significant gold system are extremely rare,” Flood said in a statement. “I believe we've succeeded in that and the objective now is to expand the footprint, and define the limits and continuity of mineralization."
Regnault is part of the Frotet project, which lies in the Frotet-Evans greenstone belt in Quebec. The belt is home to the Troilus gold-copper deposit owned by Canada’s Troilus Gold, which produced more than two million ounces of gold and nearly 70,000 tons of copper between 1996 and 2010. The deposit currently contains nearly four million ounces of gold in the indicated category and another 1.5 million ounces inferred resource. Kenorland currently owns 35% of the Frotet project, with Sumitomo Metal Mining Canada Ltd owning the remaining 65% stake.
Vancouver-based Kenorland also owns the Chebistuan project in Quebec, which is optioned to Newmont Corporation, and the advanced stage Tanacross copper-gold project as well as an option to earn up to 70% in the Healy project from Newmont, both located in Alaska.
