Meggitt receives multi-million contract to supply Boeing 737 MAX

This contract expands Meggitt content on the 737 MAX programme after the aircraft recently returned to the skies

Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) announced it was awarded a long-term, multi-million contract with Boeing for the supply of cockpit indicators on the 737 MAX.

The components supplier said the agreement covers a suite of cockpit indicators across all versions of the aircraft.

This contract expands Meggitt content on the 737 MAX programme, which already includes the engine and APU fire detection & suppression systems, electrical power conversion equipment, and elastomeric seals.

Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2022.

The aircraft was grounded in March 2019 after two crashes that killed 346 people.

The US Federal Aviation Administration gave the green light in November 2020, with the first aircraft taking off in the UK last month for an hour-long test flight.

However, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said on Monday that major safety concerns “have not yet been fully resolved” so it may be a while before it returns to the skies of its largest market.

Shares in Meggitt shed 1% to 438.16p on Tuesday morning.
