SCB Group has today officially become a Certified B Corporation across its global offices, meaning it has been found to have the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
Becoming B-certified means SCB, a low carbon commodity broker, is now part of a community of around 3800 businesses around the world.
The B Corporation assessment looks at five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers, and implements what it calls a triple-bottom-line approach – of people, planet and profit – to address social and environmental challenges.
SCB has offices in Switzerland, the UK, the US, Singapore and its office in Puerto Ric becomes the first Certified B Corporation.
Last year it was also awarded ISO certification for its environmental management system across its global businesses.
“Our clients, partners and employees all expect the highest standards. Becoming a Certified B Corporation displays our commitment to social and environmental progress,” said Kevin McGeeney, chief executive of SCB.
B Lab director Jonathan Normand added: “We are thrilled to welcome SCB Group, supporting the economic transition to a low carbon future, into the B Corp movement.
“The challenge now is to predict the type of renewable energy to be implemented in the future, for which SCB Group brings a proposal worth exploring and amplifying. Within the movement, B Corp certified companies will help determine the commodities of the future as part of the B system-change dynamics.”
