Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited (LON:SONG) said Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' hit the one billion stream landmark on Spotify this week.
Only Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody had previously crossed the billon plays mark, said the song royalty fund.
Journey’s song currently is being streamed almost 10mln times every week, it added.
Interest in the seventies rockers’ anthem was sparked by its adoption by Christmas number one experts Ladbaby, who parodied it for 2020's Xmas chart-topper.
"Don’t Stop Believin' previously reached Number 1 in 1981, since when it has gone 3x (times) platinum in the UK and 5x platinum in the US.
Hipgnosis co-owns 'Don't Stop Believin'' as a result of its stake in the Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain and Journey catalogues.
Merck Mercuriadis, Hipgnosis’ founder said: "'Don't Stop Believin'', 40 years after its release, is now in a category of two along with Bohemian Rhapsody as the only classic songs to achieve 1 billion streams on Spotify.
“To put it in perspective that's a list that excludes some of the greatest artists of all time, such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones, and only includes Journey and Queen. “
