Webis Holdings back in profit

Webis Holdings PLC (LON:WEB), up 43% at 2.85p, was the top riser on the back of its half-year report.

The operator of the WatchandWager.com gambling site returned to profit in the six months to the end of November as the amounts wagered in the period rose 20% to US$45.3mln from US$37.7mln a year earlier.

Profit before tax in the period was US$721,000, compared to a loss of US$207,000 in the corresponding period of 2019.

Macfarlane Group PLC (LON:MACF), the packaging firm, unwrapped a strong set of full-year results, sending the shares 15% higher to 98p.

Profit before tax rose 9.6% to £13.0mln from £11.9mln in 2019, paving the way for the full-year dividend to be raised to 2.55p from 0.69p.

The firm said 2021 has started well despite the ongoing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), although it is expecting another challenging year.
