Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has received further strong gold results from diamond core drilling at Gordons Dam prospect within the Gordons Gold Project in Western Australia.
The new downhole fire assay results have provided compelling exploration targets for follow-up work.
A total of three angled diamond holes for 943.8 metres returned encouraging results associated with a felsic intrusive including:
- 3.4 metres at 4.68 g/t gold within 33.75 metres at 1.11 g/t from 62 metres; and
- 5 metres at 1.19 g/t within 20 metres at 0.66 g/t from 36 metres.
The results, when combined with adjacent high-grade RC and diamond drill intercepts of up to 73.12 g/t gold for oxide and 17.01 g/t gold for primary rocks along with an improved geological understanding of the mineralisation controls, provide the targets for immediate testing.
“Well-placed to test high-grade extensions”
The company is confident that understanding the geology and the orientation of high grade structures in the vicinity of known high-grade mineralisation will improve exploration targeting.
Yandal Resources managing director Lorry Hughes said: “It is evident mineralisation at Gordons Dam occurs within a number of different rock types, styles and structural orientations.
“The diamond drilling has proved invaluable in developing new geological interpretations and I believe we are now well placed to test for high-grade extensions at depth.
“We will use several drill directions to test new targets with RC drilling first and then if successful follow-up with more RC and diamond drilling in the June quarter.”
RC drilling commenced
A total of 6,990 metres comprising 37 RC holes for 3,555 metres and 117 aircore (AC) holes for 3,435 metres have been completed since January at several prospects within the Gordons project as part of the company’s 100,000-metre program for 2021.
Prospects tested include Star of Gordons (RC), Gordons Dam (RC), Malone (AC), Gordons Dam SE (AC), Andrews (AC), Brayshaw (AC), Bradman (AC), Holloways Sth (AC) and Holloways (AC) with all results pending.
RC drilling has commenced to test for high grade structures with RC and diamond drilling to follow in the June quarter.

Next steps
Key exploration activities planned during the remainder of the March quarter include:
• Receive and interpret 1-metre RC assays from Sims Find, Flinders Park, Mt McClure, Oblique and Quarter Moon and commence follow-up RC programs;
• Complete 20,000 metres combined of AC and RC drilling across the Gordons project and assess whether sufficient data is present to compile a maiden resource estimate for Gordons Dam;
• Commence pit optimisation and technical activities for mining approvals at Gordons Dam; and
• Commence AC drilling at several priority prospects at the Yandal belt projects.
