Mercia Asset Management PLC (LON:MERC) said it contributed to the £3mln investment that has gone into Soccer Manager, the company behind the game of the same name.
Backed by the new funding, the team is hoping to build on the recent success which has seen revenues grow 80% since the launch of the last update last September.
Soccer Manager is run by Andy and Chris Gore, and executive chairman Nick Wheelwright, the former CEO of Codemasters and Monumental Games.
Mercia, a regionally focused asset manager, put in £750,000, while the same amount came from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
A total of £1.5mln in matched funding came from the Government's Future Fund.
