Eurasia Mining mourns death of longest-serving director

His main initiative in recent years was to develop the company's environment, social and governance principles

Eurasia Mining PLC (LON:EUA) has informed investors of the death of Gary Christopher Fitzgerald, a longstanding non-executive director of the company.

He had sat on Eurasia's board since June 1999, three years after the company started trading in London.

Having initially coordinated investment from a Russia focussed fund in the company's early stage of development, Fitzgerald’s main initiative in recent years was to develop the company's environment, social and governance (ESG) principles.

Chairman Christian Schaffalitzky said: “When I joined the company, Gary made me welcome not just as a colleague, but as a friend. We cannot highlight strongly enough his contribution at the early stage of Eurasia's development and recently with our ESG focus, that the board will strongly commit to in Gary's remembrance.”
