WeedMD Inc (CVE:WMD) (OTCQX:WDDMF) (FRA:4WE) has announced the Canadian launch of US-based Mary’s Medicinals topical wellness products, for which WeedMD is the exclusive Canadian manufacturer and distributor.
The company noted that the Mary’s Medicinals Transdermal Compound topical is expected to be available to WeedMD’s Starseed Medicinal patients beginning in late February, with Ontario anticipated to receive the products in March followed by additional provinces thereafter.
“We’re excited to be launching Mary’s Medicinals acclaimed therapeutic-based cannabis products in Canada - an important milestone as we expand our line-up with trusted Cannabis 2.0 additions,” WeedMD Interim CEO George Scorsis said in a statement.

He added: “We set out to produce CBD, THC and CBN-rich extracts in order to formulate new cannabis formats for an underserved patient and consumer segment looking for high-value, premium self-care products.”

The company said new product formats will eventually be added, including Mary’s Medicinals transdermal gels and patches, which will be available to both medical and direct-to-consumer markets.
WeedMD added that it is processing Mary’s Medicinals compound in-house at its Aylmer, Ontario based extraction hub, using its own indoor and outdoor-input biomass, while utilizing the company’s proprietary and patented technology that extracts active cannabinoid ingredients CBD, THC and CBN to produce the transdermal compounds.
The company contends that Mary’s Medicinals topical products have been shown to provide targeted relief and deeper penetration than traditional cannabis topicals.
Furthermore, WeedMD said has completed volume trials to produce CBD isolate, a refined crystalline form of the cannabinoid that has up to 99% potency.
The company added that it is exploring future product potential for CBD isolate, including high-potency oils, sprays and prepared edibles for its Starseed Medicinal and adult-use Color Cannabis and Saturday Cannabis brands.
WeedMD is the parent company of WeedMD RX Inc and Starseed Medicinal Inc, which are federally licensed producers of cannabis products for both the medical and adult-use markets. The company owns a 158-acre greenhouse, outdoor cultivation and processing facility in Strathroy, Ontario.
