Mode Global Holdings PLC (LON:MODE) said it has officially launched the Android version of its popular financial app as it revealed Bitcoin trading volumes on the platform had increased by 130% month on month.
Focusing on the former first, Mode said it expects the Android debut to attract thousands of new customers who will be able to make free and instant bank transfers and top-ups to start buying Bitcoin. They will also be rewarded for holding the cryptocurrency.
The app already exists on the Apple platform. Customer numbers have grown 500% from August to December and it is ranked number two in the App Store's UK finance category.
"After the initial launch of the Mode app on iOS, it quickly became apparent that we needed to release an Android version as soon as possible to satisfy the untapped demand from retail investors for our easy-to-use Bitcoin product,” said chief product officer Janis Legler.
“For the past few months, the engineering and design teams have been working really hard to deliver an experience that feels special on Android, yet still unmistakably Mode. We're excited that the time has finally come, and we couldn't be happier to be able to finally bring the Mode experience to everyone."
In the same announcement, Mode said it had enjoyed another record-breaking month with Bitcoin volumes up 130% compared with December. Since August, they have grown by an average 110% month-on-month.
