Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTCQB:GULDF) has signed top-ranked professional Fortnite player Charyy_ to its professional roster on a 12-month contract.

Charyy_ has already established a name for himself in the highly competitive Fortnite space, having bagged a total of over $58,100 in prize winnings from 26 tournaments in the past year. The game is a shoot 'em up that has become one of the most popular platforms in the world since launch in 2017.

Charyy_ made his debut under the Guild banner last week at the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), widely regarded as one of the most elite tournaments in the Fortnite competitive circuit, where he competed alongside fellow player PabloWingu.

Both players finished in the top ten.

Gaming-focused media business Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTCQB:GULDF) saw a 24% year-on-year increase in annual revenues to £5.53 million in 2023, attributed to the successful diversification of revenue streams and strategic changes in delivering sponsorship commitments.

The group's gross profit notably increased 44% to £3.99 million on a 72% gross profit margin thanks to cost-efficiency measures deployed in the period.
