Marston's private equity suitor calls time on proposed takeover

Last week the pub company said it unanimously rejected the proposed offer at 105p per share

The private equity company that made an approach to Marston's PLC (LON:MARS) has now called time on the deal.

Platinum Equity Advisors put out a statement on Thursday morning saying that, "after careful consideration, it does not intend to submit a revised proposal and it will not make a firm offer for Marston's".

The FTSE 250-listed pub company said late last month it had received an approach regarding a possible cash offer, though no price was mentioned.

Last week, Marston's confirmed the board had unanimously rejected a proposed offer at 105p per share, which it said followed two earlier proposals at 88p and 95p per share in December.
