Viscount Mining Corp (CVE:VML) (OTCQB:VLMGF) has started soil sampling on its Cherry Creek project in Nevada, it said Wednesday.
The early-stage exploration project is subject to an earn in agreement with a subsidiary of Centerra Gold Inc that allows Viscount to earn up to a 70% interest in the property.
A five-person crew is starting to collect between 700 and 1,000 soil samples from the property, which is in the Cherry Creek Mining District around 50 miles north of the mining town of Ely, Nevada.

Cherry Creek is a 2,422-hectare property with more than 20 past-producing mines. It consists of 293 claims as well as mill rights.
According to Vancouver-based Viscount, initial exploration work will focus on filling in and expanding previously-completed soil grids on the north, east and west portions of the property. The full program is expected to take around three weeks to complete, dependent on weather and ground conditions, Viscount told shareholders.
“Once we have received and reviewed results from the soil geochemistry; geophysical methods including an Induced Polarization (IP) survey will be completed over select areas of the property to assist targeting efforts,” the company said in a statement.
Viscount is a project generator and exploration company with a portfolio of silver and gold projects in the western US.
