OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX:OTCM) has released its annual OTCQX Best 50 list, a ranking of the top-performing OTCQX companies over the previous calendar year.
The OTCQX Market is the group’s highest tier market, and companies that trade on it “are distinguished by the excellence of their operations and share a commitment to providing their investors with a premium trading experience,” the group said.
The 2021 OTCQX Best 50 List is based on an equal weighting of one-year total return and average daily dollar volume growth last year. All told, the 50 companies traded an aggregate volume of $30.7 billion and delivered to investors an average total return of 235%.
“This year’s list of companies represents the breadth of established industries ranging from resources and technology to emerging and trending sectors such as gaming, cryptocurrency and cannabis,” EVP of Corporate Services Jason Paltrowitz said in a statement. “The OTCQX Market continues to provide companies both in the United States and across the globe with a cost-effective public market alternative designed to increase transparency and maximize investor visibility.”
Taking the top spot this year is AcuityAds Holdings Inc (OTCQX:ACUIF) (TSE:AT), a Canadian technology company also listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The full list includes companies cross-trading around the globe on the Australian Stock Exchange, Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Canadian Securities Exchange, the TSX Venture Exchange, in addition to the TSE.
Six 2021 companies also made the Best 50 list last year, and two are making their third consecutive appearance.

- Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (OTCQX:GBTC)
- H2O Innovation Inc (OTCQX:HEOFF)
- K92 Mining Inc (OTCQX:KNTNF)
- Skeena Resources Limited (OTCQX:SKREF)
- Teranga Gold Corporation (OTCQX:TGCDF)
Also notable, a pair of community banks made the list:
- PB Financial Corporation (OTCQX: PBNC )
- Peoples Financial Corp. (OTCQX: PFBX )

To qualify, companies must have traded on the OTCQX on December 31, 2019 through 2020; closed 2020 up year-over-year and at a price of at least $0.25; traded equal to or greater than $500,000 in dollar volume in 2020; and is not a penny stock, per SEC rules.
