Carnival to resume Italian cruises with Costa Crociere in March

The news comes weeks after the P&O Cruises arm delayed trips in New Zealand and Australia

Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) announced that its Costa Crociere arm will resume cruises on March 13 after evaluating the restrictions put in place in Italy.

The FTSE 250 firm said the current measures wouldn’t allow guests “to enjoy an adequate on-shore experience and the ability to fully explore the itinerary's destinations”.

All cruises originally scheduled on Costa Deliziosa, Costa Firenze and Costa Luminosa between February 1 and March 13 have been cancelled.

The first ship to set sail will be Costa Smeralda, which has planned three- and four-day mini-cruises or a week-long one, calling at Savona, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina and Cagliari.

Earlier this month, Carnival delayed P&O Cruises in New Zealand and Australia once again and they are now scheduled to resume in April.

Shares dipped 1% to 1,273p on Friday afternoon.
