QC Copper and Gold set to begin a 20,000-metres drill program at the Opemiska project in Quebec

The drill program comprises 75 drill holes distributed between the Opemiska Project's Springer and Perry mines to delineate a near-surface, in-pit mineral resource

QC Copper and Gold Inc (CVE:QCCU) (OTCMKTS:QCCUF) announced that its 20,000-metres (m) drill program at the Opemiska Copper Mining Complex in Quebec is scheduled to start on January 25.

The company said the drill program comprises 75 drill holes distributed between the Opemiska Project's Springer and Perry mines to delineate a near-surface, in-pit mineral resource.

QC Copper also noted that it has hired professional geologist Denis McNichol, who has 30 years of geological and geophysical exploration experience primarily in the Abitibi, to lead the diamond drilling program.

“We are very happy to bring on board someone with a lot of experience using core orienting technology and gyroscopic drill rig orientation to lead this project,” QC Copper and Gold Vice President of Exploration Charles Beaudry said in a statement.

The company also confirmed that although mining and exploration are exempt from Quebec's COVID-19 lockdown, QC Copper will enforce strict protocols to prevent any outbreaks and ensure that both the staff and the communities surrounding its project are safe.

QC Copper added that it will be featured at Ore Day on Friday, January 22. QC Copper will present a webinar and Q&A between its CEO Stephen Stewart and its VP Exploration Charles Beaudry.

The Opemiska Copper Complex is located adjacent to Chapais, Quebec, within the Chibougamau region and the historic the Abitibi Greenstone belt, encompassing 12,782 hectares and covering the past-producing Springer, Perry, Robitaille and Cooke mines owned and operated by Falconbridge.

Opemiska is expected to be a high-grade, open-pit resource, with past drilling at the complex returning intersections of 2.5% copper equivalent over 74 metres.

The property is connected to a power station and has direct access to a major highway and railway.
