Inca Minerals Ltd - Inca Minerals requests grant of Frewena tenements adjacent to recent copper discovery
Inca has set up the Frewena Group Project in the Northern Territory for an active 2021-2022.

Inca Minerals Ltd (ASX:ICG) has requested to activate final grant of three exploration licences for the Frewena tenements in the Northern Territory adjacent to a recent copper discovery.

EL32287 comprises the Frewena Fable Project, EL32289 the Frewena East Project and EL32293 the Frewena Far East Project.

Middle Island Resources Ltd (ASX:MDI) has recently discovered copper mineralisation just 800 metres from the Frewena East tenement.

Inca’s reviews indicate that this copper occurrence is on the western margin of a large multi-anomaly target centred within Frewena East.

Deferral scheme

As a COVID-19 initiative, the Northern Territory Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade provided companies the opportunity to defer the grant of their exploration licence applications recognising the difficulties in conducting exploration during COVID-related travel restrictions.

There is no obligation to spend on exploration if a tenement is not granted.

It was the intention of Inca to activate the three effected licences after completing interpretation of an AMAGRAD survey that was carried out at Frewena in November 2020.

However, the discovery of significant copper mineralisation by Middle Island on their exploration licence brought forward this decision.

Preliminary AMAGRAD data

Real-time raw data QC reviews conducted during the AMAGRAD survey confirmed the high quality of magnetic, radiometric and geographical (location) data.

Good quality data makes interpretations more powerful with anomaly parameters more certain.

Interim interpretations were expected in the new year with a final interpretation anticipated in February 2021.

The company has reviewed the Middle Island results with respect to its own data which showed that the copper occurrence is at the southwestern end of a SW-NE regional structure within the Frewena East Project.

This review also reveals that the copper occurrence is on the western margin of a large conductivity anomaly and subtle gravity and magnetic anomaly centred in Frewena East.

Inca believes that the potential strike direction of the copper occurrence is southwest-northwest and as such, trends into its ground.

Next steps

With reconnaissance exploration confirming the company’s IOCG exploration model, DITT granting a ground disturbance permit and the completion of the AMAGRAD survey, Inca has set up the Frewena Group Project for an active 2021-2022.

After receiving final AMAGRAD interpretations, drill targets will be generated taking into account all aspects of previous work, which includes the Middle Island copper discovery.

The company intends to advance Frewena to drilling status and the next steps will focus on drill target identification, delineation and prioritisation.

Ground truthing of priority AMAGRAD targets is planned for the upcoming central Australian field season, and the company is open to the notion of forming funding partnerships for the development of the Frewena Group Project.
