FTSE 100 opened with a jump in the first trading day of the new year although coronavirus infections continue to surge. London’s main index added 120 points to 6,580 in early trading. The UK has begun the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) and Oxford University.

Ncondezi Energy Ltd (LON:NCCL) agreed with China Machinery Engineering Corporation to be reimbursed for the project historical development costs. The pair are working on a coal-fired power project and coal mine in Mozambique.
