European Metals appoints US ambassador as a new non-executive director

The company said the appointment of Lincoln Palmer Bloomfield Jr will deepen its understanding of environmental threats and emerging resource insecurity concerns

European Metals Holdings Ltd (LON:EMH) said it has appointed ambassador Lincoln Palmer Bloomfield Jr to the firm as a non-executive director.

The AIM-listed firm said Bloomfield’s appointment will deepen its understanding of environmental threats and emerging resource insecurity concerns having potential national, regional and global impacts and that he will serve as a “valuable addition” to the firm as it focused on the environmental and sustainable governance (ESG) aspects of the critical raw materials and battery supply chain.

European Metals added that the ambassador’s experience working within the security apparatus of the US government under three presidents and five administrations brings “critical know-how in dealing with security issues and strategic planning”.

European Metals added that Bloomfield’s addition to the company is consistent with its commitment to meet the three main objectives of the European Commission’s new batteries regulation and its three main objectives: strengthening the functioning of the EU internal market by ensuring a level playing field through a common set of rules; promoting a circular economy; and reducing environmental and social impact throughout all stages of the battery life cycle.

“Given the complexity of the new Batteries Regulation, EMH is reassured to know that [Bloomfield] will be contributing to its efforts to achieve compliance throughout the organization”, the company said in a statement.

Aside from his new role at European Metals, Bloomfield is currently a director and national executive committee member of the US Water Partnership, a public-private non-profit entity, and previously served as chairman of the non-partisan Stimson Center.

The company also said it has appointed WH Ireland as its Nominated Adviser on AIM with effect as of January 1, 2021. WH Ireland will also act as joint broker to the company along with Shard Capital.

Shares in European Metals jumped 9.3% to 70p in early trading on Monday.
