Emyria Ltd (ASX:EMD) expects to make great progress in 2021 with its first two programs, EMD-003 in mental health and EMD-004 for irritable bowel syndrome, already underway.
Both programs are informed by the unique insights and intellectual property (IP) the company obtained from an extensive analysis of its proprietary Emyria Data, which reflects the real-world clinical experience of more than 3,000 patients on cannabinoid medicines - a total of 2.6 million data points and growing.
The drug programs target major unmet medical needs and will pursue formal registration with major regulators bodies, including the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
New framework for modelling on patients
Emyria chief executive officer and managing director Dr Michael Winlo (above) said: “Our model of evidence-generating care helps patients and can also dramatically change the way new treatments are developed, which we hope to demonstrate with our own, data-backed drug development programs.

Mental health a focus
Emyria has made mental health a focus, having seen the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic on mental health.
It is leading its own cannabinoid drug development program (EMD-003) focused on mental health, backed by unique IP from its own data.
It has also formed a partnership with Mind Medicine Australia to figure out how best to deliver the most promising psychedelic-assisted therapies to those who need them most.
Remote monitoring
Emyria has also developed TGA-registered smartphone technologies that capture clinical vital signs from patients using just a smartphone as more patients continue to seek care from their own homes.
