Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) is eagerly awaiting the results of a detailed airborne geophysical survey for the Koongulla Project in the Paterson Province of Western Australia, a region that is attracting global interest owing to prominent discoveries at Havieron, Winu and Calibre.
The efforts of companies such as Rio Tinto Limited (ASX:RIO) (LON:RIO), Newcrest Mining Ltd (ASX:NCM) (TSE:NCM) along with Greatland Gold (LON:GGP) and Antipa Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZY) have put the spotlight on the region and Boadicea is hoping to follow in their footsteps.
Koongulla Project consists of Koongulla (EL45/5392) and Koongulla North (E45/5818) and covers a total area of 488 square kilometres.
Detailed survey
GPX Surveys Pty Ltd was engaged to conduct the aeromagnetic survey on 100-metre spaced, east-west oriented lines for a total of 5,259 line kilometres.
This represents a significant improvement in data resolution, with the tenements only previously covered by regional open file surveys.
Assessment of the results will be completed by BOA’s geophysical consultant Southern Geoscience Consultants (SGS) in January 2021.
IRGS prospectivity
Paterson Province covers around 30,000 square kilometres to the east of the Hamersley Basin and southwest of the Canning Basin.
The region is highly prospective for intrusion-related gold-copper systems (IRGS) and as well as the more recent discoveries, is home to Newcrest’s large Telfer mine.
