Loncor Resources hits significant gold intercepts in second hole at Adumbi deposit, DRC

Assays included 33.30m at a grade of 3.25 g/t gold, which included an intercept of 5.70m at 7 g/t of the yellow metal

Loncor Resources Inc (TSE:LN) (OTCQX:LONCF) (FRA:LO51) said a second hole at its Adumbi deposit at its Imbo project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has hit "significant' gold intersections.

Assays included 33.30 metres (m) at a grade of 3.25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, which included an intercept of 5.70m at 7 g/t of the yellow metal and 9.07m grading 5.11 g/t of the precious metal.

The hole also hit 10.45m grading 3.88 g/t of gold.

It comes after the company reported at the end of November that the first hole had hit "multiple gold sections", including 20.33m grading 2.47 g/t gold and 4.8m grading 5.40 g/t gold.

"We are very encouraged by the results of the first two core holes of our 7,000 metre drilling program at Adumbi where we are targeting a significant increase of resources, both within and below the open pit shell," said Loncor president Peter Cowley in a statement.

"These two infill holes were drilled within the open pit shell where there is already an inferred resource of 2.19 million ounces (28.97 million tonnes grading 2.35 g/t gold). These results will further increase the inferred resource. Deeper drilling is now being focused on the plunging/downdip mineralization below the pit shell."

A deeper hole targeting mineralization below a 2017 hole has been completed with core sent for assay, while a deeper hole and a shallower hole are currently being drilled to intercept the downdip/down plunge mineralized zone below the open pit shell and at shallower depth towards the northwest at the base of the pit shell, the company added.

The aim of the current drilling program at Adumbi is to add to the current inferred mineral resource of 2.5 million ounces of gold on Loncor’s 84.68%-owned Imbo project, which contains the Adumbi, Kitenge and Manzako deposits (inferred mineral resources of 30.65 million tonnes grading 2.54 g/t gold).

Loncor is focused on the Ngayu Greenstone Belt in the northeast of the African country in an area 220 kilometres southwest of the Kibali gold mine, which is operated by Barrick Gold Corp (NYSE:GOLD) (TSE:ABX) (FRA:ABR).
