Ceylon Graphite bolsters team with 'respected practitioners' in the Sri Lankan graphite space

Ceylon Graphite Corp (CVE:CYL) (OTCMKTS:CYLUF) (FRA:CCY) has bolstered its team as the miner continues to advance its activity in Sri Lanka. 

Janaka Rathnayake will become general manager of operations for group subsidiary Sarcon Development and will be responsible for all exploration and mining-related business in Sri Lanka.

Dr H.M Ranjith Premasiri becomes senior consultant geologist and will guide and lead Sarcon’s team as it expands its business footprint in Sri Lanka.

"Both gentlemen are well-known and respected practitioners in the graphite space in Sri Lanka and will play a major role as the company ramps up its business activities. Janaka will focus on production and Ranjith on the next sites that we should develop," said Bharat Parashar, chief executive officer of Ceylon Graphite in a statement.

Rathnayake spent over 10 years with the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau as the Mining Engineer and Chief Mining Engineer. He has worked in Australia in senior mining positions and was the mines manager at Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka Ltd, the largest graphite mine in Sri Lanka, prior to joining the Ceylon Graphite team. He currently runs the company's M1 site.

Dr. Premasiri has a PhD in Geo Physics from the UK and is currently the president of the Geological Society of Sri Lanka and was General Secretary of the Institute of Geology, Sri Lanka between 2009 and 2016. He has published numerous papers and carried out substantial research.

Also in Friday's statement, the company reported that the proposed private placement that was announced in a statement on January 28, 2020 did not proceed.
