Exro Technologies Inc (CVE:EXRO) has completed engineering validation on its 100 Volt Coil Driver for electric cars, it said Friday.
The 100V Coil Driver Coil Driver proprietary software system controls electric motor coils through individual coil switching for optimal settings for each specific power need, resulting in expanded speed and torque capability and improved machine efficiency across a wider operating range.
In a statement, the Calgary-based technology company called the validation a “key milestone” towards delivering commercial products for the electric car market.

Testing revealed that the series to parallel algorithms driving the dynamic switching under load is operating in line with expecations, according to Exro. The firm added that it is on schedule to deliver a prototype to Potencia Industrial, one of Mexico’s largest motor manufacturers that produces the Pronto Power electric powertrain.
“I am extremely pleased with the speed-torque results from our bench tests,” Eric Hustedt, Exro’s chief engineer said in a statement.
“I have no concerns over the operations of the drive moving forward. The hardware is more than able to support the dynamic switching under loads, and demonstration of these algorithms in the drive is a major breakthrough.”
Exro’s CEO Sue Ozdemir told investors that the company is moving forward in delivering its technology into operating applications.
“This validation represents all the hard work our engineering team has put in to take our patented technology from simulations to dyno bay testing, taking us another step closer to positioning ourselves as technology leaders in the transition to electric vehicles,” Ozdemir added.
Exro recently opened its Calgary Innovation Center to facilitate in-house design, testing, and assembly of manufactured products to enhance the performance of electric motors and powertrains.
