Talon Metals says it plans to drill the area out aggressively in early 2021, with the goal of delineating a resource to add to its overall tonnage

Talon Metals Corp (TSE:TLO) (OTCMKTS:TLOFF) (FRA:TAO) announced that it has intersected 2.71 meters of massive sulphide mineralization grading 5.13% nickel, included in a wider zone of mineralization of 9.55 meters (m) grading 2.12% nickel, at the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in Minnesota.

The company said the mineralization is “shallow,” starting at just 242.84m, and is located outside its current resource area.

“So far, drilling outside of our resource area is proving to be a success,” Talon Metals Head of Exploration Brian Goldner said in a statement.

He added: “The mineralization is being intersected at depths much shallower than within our resource area, at grades that continue to be quite high. Over the course of January through to April, we will endeavour to drill this area out aggressively, with the goal of delineating a resource so we can add to our overall tonnage.”

The company said it has continued exploration in an area that lies outside of its current resource area, referred to as ‘CGO East’, with drilling starting about 350m north-east. CGO East, it contends, is a large area with the potential to host shallow, wide sheets of mineralization that may stretch over an area of 500m (east-west) by 900m (north-south).

Talon Metals noted that massive sulphide was successfully identified by running a Borehole Electromagnetic (BHEM) survey, which it says continues to be the most successful geophysical tool for identifying new high-grade massive sulphides at the Tamarack Project, down a previous nearby drill hole.

The company added that its ability to conduct BHEM surveying in-house has significantly reduced costs and has allowed for continuous surveying to take place over the Tamarack Project's many historic open holes.

Talon Metals said the untested BHEM plates will make up a portion of the upcoming drilling campaign in an effort to expand the shallow high-grade intercepts shown in drill hole 20TK0271.

Talon is focused on expanding its current high-grade nickel mineralization resource at Tamarack prepared in accordance with NI 43-101; identifying additional high-grade nickel mineralization, and developing a process to potentially produce nickel sulphates responsibly for batteries for the electric vehicles industry.

The Tamarack Project comprises the Tamarack North Project and the Tamarack South Project.
