Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:PAR) has strengthened its board with intellectual property (IP) expertise through the appointment of Amos Meltzer as an independent non-executive director.
Meltzer is a scientist and an intellectual property lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in international trade and in commercialising technologies, overwhelmingly in the life sciences.
He has presided over life science research and product development projects as well as clinical trials and the sale and marketing of a pharmaceutical product.
Amos’ experience and expertise is drawn from having worked in large law firms (Freehills and K&L Gates) and in house counsel and IP director at two Nasdaq-listed companies, as a non-executive director of a biotechnology company and as VP of Business Development and then CEO of an ASX-listed biopharmaceutical company.
In these roles, he straddled a breadth of disciplines - R&D, product development, clinical operations, business development and investor relations, all of which are augmented by his legal and IP expertise.
IP expertise
Amos has advised and accompanied life science companies from inception to commercialisation and formulated and negotiated licenses and collaboration agreements on behalf of as well as with biopharmaceutical and medical device companies.
He brings to Paradigm IP expertise and a proven track record of successful commercial transactions and currently serves as chief operating officer of neuro-medical device company Synchron, chairman of surgeon education services company Vasulab and as legal advisor to several ASX listed and private life science companies.
Search continues for directors
Paradigm continues to search for another person with extensive financial experience who will also be added to the Paradigm board as an independent non-executive director.
With financial experience, this person will be appointed as chair of the audit and risk committee.
In addition, Paradigm is also looking to bring an experienced US-based big pharma executive to the board, as an independent non-executive director, to assist with commercial transactions.
The company will also continue to build its board as it progresses into Phase-3 clinical trials and potential commercial discussions.
