Inspiration Healthcare -

Inspiration Healthcare Group PLC (LON:IHC) said a respiratory device used in neonatal intensive care can now be validated across the EU after being granted a European patent.

The protection covers Project WAVE, which uses a technology acquired under licence last year from an unnamed “major US West Coast university”.

WAVE has already secured US Patent Office sign-off, while the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has approved it for clinical testing.

This will take place in the new year at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, Brighton & Sussex University Hospital.

In a statement, Inspiration chief executive Neil Campbell said: "As we continue to move forward in the development of Project WAVE this is another milestone passed and one which both protects our IP and the investment we have made to ensure that this technology soon becomes adopted in hospitals, and we remain confident that once this happens, we will begin to see improved medical outcomes using this novel technology.”
