QC Copper and Gold Inc (CVE:QCCU) submitted its permit applications for approval to start a 20,000-metre drill program at its Opemiska project in Quebec, it said Thursday.

In a statement, the junior said that around 75% of the drilling will focus on resource delineation and the rest will go towards brownfield exploration. The exploration holes will be mainly focus on the nearby Cooke-Robitaille property, which houses another two historical mines.
Drill permits are usually issued within a 10-day period unless there are specific objections to the proposal, QC Copper and Gold told shareholders.
The Opemiska Copper Complex is located adjacent to Chapais, Quebec, within the Chibougamau region and the historic the Abitibi Greenstone belt.
The property is connected to a power station and has direct access to a major highway and railway.
Quebec’s government has laid out an ambitious redevelopment program known as Plan Nord, which promotes and funds infrastructure and development of natural resource projects. Opemiska lies within the boundaries of Plan Nord.
